Your story can help someone else decide to pick up Dianetics and find out what it can do for them.
You don’t need a studio or a script. Just use your phone, speak naturally and share one real thing you learned, understood or changed from reading Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
Film your video, post it on your social channels and tag @Dianetics so we can see it.
Selfie Tips:
The best videos are simple, direct and personal.
Aim for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Pick one idea, one realization or one change in your life and tell that story clearly.
You can talk about:
Talk like you are telling a friend: “Here’s what happened to me, here’s what I realized and here’s why I think this book matters.”
The first few seconds matter. Start with something that makes people want to keep watching.
A good hook is specific, personal and relatable.
Examples:
“I didn’t realize how much my past was affecting my reactions until I read Dianetics.”
“Have you ever reacted to something small and wondered, ‘Why did that hit me so hard?’”
“This book helped me understand something about my mind that I had never been able to explain.”
“I thought I was just stuck in the same pattern. Then I read Dianetics.”
You don’t have to use these exact lines. Use your own words. Just make sure your opening gives people a reason to keep listening.
After your hook, tell one short story.
A simple structure is:
Before: What was happening in your life?
Realization: What did Dianetics help you understand?
Change: What is different now?
For example:
“I used to get upset over small things and then wonder why I reacted so strongly. Reading about the reactive mind in Dianetics helped me see that I was not always responding to what was happening right now. Sometimes something in the present was restimulating something from the past. Once I understood that, I started catching myself before reacting the same old way.”
Don’t be afraid to use Dianetics terms.
Words like reactive mind, engram, restimulation, analytical mind and auditing are part of what makes Dianetics unique. Dianetics gives people specific technology for understanding the mind.
You can define a term simply as you use it.
Examples:
“Dianetics talks about the reactive mind—the part of the mind that can cause you to act irrationally because of painful experiences from the past.”
“An engram is a recording of a painful experience. Once I understood that, a lot of my reactions started to make more sense.”
“I realized I was not always thinking analytically. Sometimes I was reacting from something Dianetics calls the reactive mind.”
Keep it natural. You are not giving a lecture. You’re helping someone understand what you learned and why it mattered to you.
Show your copy of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
You can hold it up at the beginning, keep it nearby or show the cover for a few seconds at the end. Make sure the title is visible and readable in your video frame.
This helps people immediately know what book you are talking about and makes your video easier to recognize, share and feature.
Close by inviting people to read the book or look into Dianetics for themselves.
Examples:
“If you want to understand your own mind better, read Dianetics.”
“If any of this sounds familiar, get the book and see what you discover.”
“That’s what Dianetics helped me understand. If you’re ready to take charge of your mental health, check it out.”
“Don’t take my word for it. Read Dianetics and see what it does for you.”
Keep the ending direct, friendly and personal.
You don’t need professional equipment. A simple phone video is perfect.
Use these settings:
Format: Vertical video
Ratio: 9:16
Length: 30 seconds to 1 minute
Camera: Go to “Settings” and enable the highest quality resolution (such as 1080).
Lighting: Ensure the space is well lit.
Sound: Ensure your space is quiet.
Framing: Keep your face centered, with your eyes near the top third of the frame.
Background: Ensure your background looks neat.
Filters: Avoid heavy filters, effects or color changes.
Before you post, watch your video once and check: Can people hear you clearly? Can they see your face? Is the book visible? Does the first line make them want to keep watching?
